Say Alif معلّم القرآن Start free

Stage 1 is free for every family

Teach your child to read the Quran, one letter at a time.

A playful digital edition of the Baghdadi Qaida, معلّم القرآن. Your child reads each line aloud. The app listens to every sound, shows exactly what they said, and helps them get it right.

Free to start, no card needed. It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen. iPhone and Android apps are coming.

Try a lesson from the book

Three levels from the start of the Baghdadi Qaida. Listen, say it out loud, and see exactly what the app heard.

Your recording is only used to check your reading. It isn't kept.

How it works

A practice turn takes under a minute

Your child works through the book one line at a time, the same way they would with a teacher sitting beside them.

  1. Step 1: Listen

Hear the line read clearly before trying it.

  2. Step 2: Read aloud

Tap the microphone and read the line from the book.

  3. Step 3: See what they said

The app shows exactly what it heard next to the right sound, with one gentle hint. When it isn't sure, it says so.

  4. Step 4: Earn rewards

Stars and streaks add up to the rewards you choose, from screen time to something in their favourite game.

Rewards you choose

Every child is motivated by something different

Your child does the reading, and you choose what it earns: screen time, something in the game they love, a day out, or sadaqah. Mix them, and change them any time.

Rewards are part of the app. Start free and set them up for your family.

Why it works

Reading the Quran shouldn't take years

With only a weekly class, the Qaida can stretch on for years. A little practice every day, and a child who wants to come back to it, gets through the whole book in months. Choose a pace to see how long.

Pages a day
Days a week

About 7 monthsto finish the whole book (30 weeks)

The book has about 160 pages. Stage 1 takes about three weeks, one letter group a week. After that the plan counts the reading pages, about 134 of them, since the pages that introduce a new rule are taught in the app's Learn step.

    • A little every day

A few minutes at home whenever your child is ready. Practice doesn't have to wait for next week's class.

    • Mistakes caught early

The app shows a wrong sound next to the right one the moment it's said, before it becomes a habit. When it isn't sure, it says so instead of guessing.

    • Motivation that lasts

Stars, streaks and the rewards you pick keep your child coming back. Motivation is what finishes the book.

    Reading is the key

Every letter is part of the key

The Quran calls itself guidance, light, mercy and healing. Reading it is how a child opens that treasure for themselves.

Each stage of the book adds a tooth to the key. When all six are there, your child can open the mushaf and read it on their own.

    The book

Six stages, one page at a time

The app follows the Baghdadi Qaida in order, and every lesson points to its page in the printed copy, so practice at home matches the book on the table.

    Parents & teachers

For the kitchen table and the madrasa

    For parents

    • Sit beside your child with the printed book open. Every screen shows its page number.
    • See which letters and rules your child finds hard, not just how many stars they earned.
    • Add all your children to one account, each with their own progress and rewards.
    • Short daily sessions, so practice fits around school and homework.

    For teachers and madrasas

    • See where every child in your class is in the book.
    • Hear any attempt the app wasn't sure about, and mark it yourself.
    • Set pages as homework. The stage tracker fills itself in.
    • Print worksheets of real Quran words that use only what each stage has taught.

    Privacy

    Your child's voice stays private

We're recording children, so we hold ourselves to a strict standard.

Nothing is recorded until you say yes

A parent turns on the microphone for each child. Without that, it stays off.

    No names or birthdays needed

We ask for an age range and a nickname you choose. That's all the app needs.

Helping the app improve is a separate choice

Recordings help the app learn only if you opt in. Practice works the same either way.

    Delete it whenever you like

Remove a child's recordings and progress from your account at any time.
